Michael Mello, MSW, LISW-CP is a clinical social worker with a diverse background in providing psychotherapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults. He specializes in anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, ADHD, life transitions, men’s mental health, and supporting individuals living with chronic medical conditions. Michael takes an individualized, collaborative approach to treatment and values the integration of psychotherapy and psychiatric care.
Michael Mello, MSW, LISW-CP is a licensed clinical social worker who believes meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, and authenticity. He strives to create a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges. His goal is to help clients build resilience, gain confidence, and create lasting change.
Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Fairfield University and his Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut. He is licensed to practice in both South Carolina and Connecticut and has experience providing outpatient psychotherapy to adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns. His background also includes working in school-based settings, where he supported students navigating academic stress, emotional challenges, and important developmental transitions.
Michael enjoys working with adolescents, college students, young professionals, and adults. He specializes in treating anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders, ADHD, and life transitions. His clinical interests also include men’s mental health, academic and career stress, chronic illness, and gaming addiction.
Michael takes an individualized, evidence-based approach to treatment, drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy. He believes there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health and works collaboratively with each client to develop practical strategies that promote lasting growth while addressing the unique challenges they face.
Michael has a particular passion for supporting individuals living with chronic medical conditions and caregivers. Drawing from both his clinical expertise and personal experience, he understands the unique emotional challenges that often accompany chronic illness. He values close collaboration with psychiatrists and other members of the treatment team to provide comprehensive, coordinated care that supports each client’s overall well-being. Michael is committed to helping clients feel empowered, develop resilience, and build lives that reflect what matters most to them.
